Oculofacial Plastic Surgery

Our team of oculoplastic surgeons at Eye Care of La Jolla specializes in a comprehensive range of procedures, including blepharoplasty, facial reconstruction, and non-surgical rejuvenation. Our doctors are focused on balancing your intricate structure with its natural appearance.

Blepharoplasty

Sagging eyelids can contribute to an aged or fatigued appearance and can even impact your vision. Blepharoplasty is a common surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat deposits above or below the eye, leaving you with a more youthful and rejuvenated look. Blepharoplasty is often chosen by individuals who want to address signs of aging around the eyes, improve their overall facial appearance, and, in some cases, enhance vision impacted by sagging eyelid skin.

Common Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) Questions

During your consultation, our oculoplastic surgeons will prioritize your questions and concerns about the procedure. They will then thoroughly examine your medical history and other factors such as age, skin type, ethnic background, and the extent of vision obstruction. Collectively, we can collaboratively arrive at an informed decision regarding eyelid surgery, ensuring that it aligns with your individual needs and preferences.

Typically, cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance. However, if the surgery addresses functional issues such as impaired vision due to droopy eyelids or excess skin, there’s a possibility of reimbursement, either in full or in part. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to ascertain the extent of coverage and to be aware of any applicable deductibles.

Precautions are implemented to ensure your comfort during the procedure, including local anesthesia with optional sedation. After the procedure, discomfort can be alleviated with post-operative care including ice and over-the-counter Tylenol.
